Winn Rentals World Mixed Curling Championship set for Kelowna

The Winn Rentals World Mixed Curling Championship 2018 is set to take place at the Kelowna Curling Club in Kelowna, British Colombia, Canada this week. The championship, being held outside of the European zone for the very first time, will run from Saturday 13 October until Saturday 20 October.

Members vote to change World Mixed Doubles format and first African Member joins at AGA 2018

The Members Associations of the World Curling Federation have voted to change the format of the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship after an emergency motion was made by the representatives at the Annual General Assembly in Budapest, Hungary. This event will change from an open entry format to a 20 team world championship and a separate open entry World Challenge, from the 2019-2020 season.

Canada complete Curling World Cup clean sweep with men’s win

Canada are guaranteed one team in each discipline at the Curling World Cup Grand Final, in Beijing, China next May, after their women’s, men’s and mixed doubles teams won each final at the inaugural Curling World Cup leg in the Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre in Suzhou, China.

Canada win first-ever Curling World Cup mixed doubles finals

Laura Walker and Kirk Muyres gave Canada the perfect start to Curling World Cup finals day in Suzhou, China with victory in the mixed doubles final over the United States. Their 7-3 victory, in the brand new Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre, hinged on a steal for three points in the fifth end as United States' Sarah Anderson got the wrong line with a takeout shot.

World Curling Federation position on McLaren Report investigation

The World Curling Federation has today (Sunday 9 September) announced that no further action will be taken on curlers implicated in the McLaren Reports, published in July and December 2016. These reports, commissioned and published by the World Anti-Doping Agency investigated allegations of state-sponsored doping in Russia and at the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014.

Curling World Cup teams to earn World Curling Tour ranking points

Teams competing in the new Curling World Cup will earn points for the World Curling Tour ranking system, also known as the Order of Merit. The World Curling Tour ranking is for individual teams and can include multiple teams from a single Member Association or professional multi-national teams.

World Curling appoint new Competitions and Development Officer

The World Curling Federation has appointed the Czech Republic’s Jiri Snitil as its newest Competitions and Development Officer. Snitil is best known as skip of the Czech Republic’s men’s team. He has represented his country at seven World Men’s Curling Championships. Also, he won a European Curling Championships bronze medal in 2012 and a European Mixed medal in 2008.
